ABC Family Pediatricians

Amy Jibilian, M.D.
Pediatrician

What types of experience have you had as a pediatrician?
I have been in multiple types of pediatric practices including hospital-based pediatrics, private practice and another large group practice. I have experience in leadership roles including serving as chief of the department of pediatrics at Sutter Medical Center in Sacramento, California.

What is the most challenging part of taking care of patients?
I find caring for children, from birth through college, and addressing their wide range of growth, developmental and medical issues at each stage challenging.

What is the most enjoyable part of your day with patients?
Children are just plain fun. They make me smile and laugh all day. Children are very genuine and appreciative, which makes a challenging job worthwhile.

What is your style of working with patients?
I direct my questions and conversations to the children as soon as they are able to communicate with me. I also involve parents in decision-making, so it’s a team approach.

What is your philosophy of medicine or in treating or helping patients?
My goal is to establish continuity of care with each family so children identify me as their doctor and hopefully learn to trust and feel safe with me. This helps me provide better quality of care for children with chronic or recurring medical problems.

What do you want people to most know about you?
I hope that I can have a positive impact on each child’s life that I touch, whether it is helping him or her recover from an illness, giving guidance and reassurance, or just being a good role model. It warms my heart every time I hear a little girl say she wants to grow up to be a doctor just like me!
